Due to controversy after a video was leaked, the weekend premiere of "A Dog's Purpose" was cancelled.
TMZ uploaded the video showing a terrified German shepherd named Hercules was being forced into a raging water.
Eight powerful engines were used to recreated a raging river where the dog was forced. In the latter part of the video, the dog was seen sinking with the trainers rushing to help him.
Producer Amblin Entertainment and Universal Pictures released a statement noting that the weekend premiere was cancelled because Amblin's review of the video is still ongoing.
"While we are all disheartened by the appearance of an animal in distress everyone has assured us that Hercules the German shepherd was not harmed throughout the filmmaking," the statement reads.
